NASCAR Champion Martin Truex Jr. and The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation (MTJF) would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the fans, our sponsors and members of the NASCAR community who came out and supported the foundation during the Second Annual MTJF Golf Tournament and Dinner and the Inaugural “Hook’em & Hold’em” MTJF Poker Tournament.
Thanks to the many generous supporters the foundation was able to raise over $200,000!
NASCAR Drivers and Speed Channel commentators Michael Waltrip, Larry McReynolds, Hermie Sadler and Bob Dillner along with former Philadelphia Eagles football player Vince Papale joined Truex, a New Jersey native on Tuesday, September 22 on the links at the renowned Bay Course at SeaView Resort and Spa located in Galloway, NJ. Over a 170 golfers competed for bragging rights on the 18-hole course while over looking the scenic Reed’s Bay.
Immediately following the golf tournament a fan appreciation dinner and a silent and live auction were held raising over $70,000. The night’s most popular items included an autographed authentic Richard Petty Cowboy Hat and an autograph race hood signed by the Truex family.
The following night The Inaugural MTJF “Hook’em and Hold’em” Poker tournament was hosted at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ by Truex Jr. Over 100 poker players, including NASCAR Drivers Ryan Newman and Greg Biffle, competed for the Grand Prize of $5,000 and the Ultimate NASCAR Race Package at Dover Interna tional Speedway.
As part of the two-day event, The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation made a commitment to support the building of a new pediatric unit at the Southern Ocean County Hospital located in Mana hawkin, NJ. During the two-day event fans dropped off over 1,500 new or gently used Children books for the SOCH Pediatric Unit and various Children’s Hospitals in North Carolina.
